It's hard to believe Fall is here. You know what that means... winter is just around the corner! Yikes! It was a great summer though -- the gardens did very well this year. My grandmother has the most beautifully maintained garden, which produces an abundance of delicious veggies. I've been trying to learn how to can this year -- a lost art. Nana taught me how to do bread and butter pickles... the first batch I made with her and the second I tried on my own. One of my jars didn't seal on round two, but it felt great to practice an old-time tradition and I hope to continue learning how to preserve food. Planting is easy, maintaining your plants is time-consuming, and harvest is exciting, rewarding and overwhelming all at once! I have few more plants to pull, garlic to plant, and then it will be time to lay the garden to rest for the Winter. Until Spring...
